Dear Parents,
As we celebrate another wonderful set of IGCSE ( Grade 10) , AS ( Grade 11) and A Level ( Grade 12) results, my heart is full of pride not just for the grades achieved, but for the journeys behind them. In case you have missed seeing our Board results, they are all over our Instagram handle : theggis_ahd.
Of course, we celebrate our top scorers. Their hard work, discipline and consistency deserve every bit of recognition they receive.
But this year, I found myself thinking just as much about the students who struggled or could be still struggling.
The ones who started the year unsure of themselves. The ones who faced setbacks, disappointment and self-doubt, yet kept showing up. They revised when they didn't feel like it. They asked for help. They tried again. And then again.
And the finally did it !!
Those are the stories that stay with me.
As educators and parents, we can provide support, guidance, structure and encouragement. But ultimately, there comes a moment when a young person has to make a choice ….to put the phone away, to open the book, to stay with the challenge a little longer.
That choice, repeated day after day, is what shapes outcomes.
And that is why I often remind parents that success in the board years does not begin in the board years. It begins much earlier—in the habits our children build, in the books they read, in the resilience they develop, and in the belief that effort matters.
To every parent, your voice becomes your child's inner voice. The words you speak today often become the beliefs they carry tomorrow. In just a few seconds, you can build confidence or diminish it. So while you guide, correct, and set expectations, let's also remember to remind our children that they are capable, resilient, and deeply loved.
To every student receiving results: whether you are celebrating or reflecting, know that one set of results does not define you.
Keep learning. Keep growing. Keep trying.
And remember, if you need help, it is OKAY to ask for it.
