Dear GGIS Community,
A few days after our Learning Fest, a teacher came up to me. Fifteen years in education. She looked at me and said something I have not stopped thinking about since:
“Nobody has ever invested in upskilling me like this before.”
Fifteen years. And this was the first time someone had paused to ask — not what she could do better in the classroom, but who she was as a human being first. That stopped me. It made me equal parts proud and sad.
WHAT WE ACTUALLY DID
The Learning Fest was built on one belief: you cannot pour from an empty cup. So we made
room for the conversations schools almost never have. We went deep into health and
nutrition, understanding our own needs and feelings as adults, inclusivity in the classroom,
practical strategies for emotional regulation, the harm of labelling students…….
…… and yes, even the guilt that quietly traps a working mother. These are not side topics. They are the work.
DEEP WORK OVER RAPID GRATIFICATION
We live in a world that rewards speed. Quick answers, instant results, the next notification.
But genuine growth does not work that way. It asks you to slow down, go deeper, and sit with
discomfort long enough to learn something real. For our teachers, that meant pausing in the
middle of a busy term and choosing depth over distraction. That is not easy. It is, however,
everything.
ROOTWORK
We call this Rootwork because all real growth begins underground. A tree sends roots deeper
before it grows taller. Our teachers are the canopy your children grow beneath and a canopy
is only as steady as the roots that hold it. When we invest in who our teachers are, we invest
in every child they will ever teach.
Reflection and self-awareness are not a luxury. In this moment, they are the only real need.
And at GGIS, we choose to meet that need for our teachers, so they can meet it for your
children.
This is the year we go deeper
And we welcome our students back not with more on their plates, but with more intention behind everything already on it.
Deeper work in academics. Deeper commitment in routines. More heart and progression in sports, in events, and in the small everyday moments that make a school feel like home.
Depth over speed. Substance over surface.
That is our promise to the experience for our students who walks through our doors this year.
